Effect of carbon content on cryogenic mechanical properties of CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy

Abstract The effect of the carbon content (0-2 at.%) on structure and mechanical properties at room cryogenic temperatures CoCrFeNiMn-based high entropy alloys with reduced Cr concentration was studied. as-cast were cold rolled to a thickness reduction 80% annealed 800°C for 1 hour. As result, fully recrystallized microstructure grain size 6.4 ?m produced in carbon-free alloy. much smaller (1.5 alloy 2.0 at.% C) due pinning precipitated M 23 C 6 carbides. yield strength increased an increase from 313 MPa 636 MPa, while elongation fracture slightly decreased 56% 43%, respectively, 0 2 C. A decrease test temperature 77K resulted significant both ductility alloys. had values impact toughness 140 J/cm 85 , testing did not have noticeable toughness.
